Turkish giant Beşiktaş has offered Chelsea €5 million for Nigerian intentional Mikel according to the Punch newspaper.
Mikel has found himself on the fringes of the Chelsea squad after falling down the pecking order. He has also been linked with Istanbul rivals Fenerbahçe and UAE side Al Ain over the transfer window.
The experienced midfielder made his first English Premier League appearance in Chelsea’s 3-2 win over West Brom at the Hawthorns yesterday.
Beşiktaş, who is also interested in Liverpool midfielder, Lucas Leiva, is in dire need of midfielders following long term injuries to Veli Kavlka and Tolgay Arslan.
The Istanbul giant is currently managed by former Turkish national team head coach, Şenol Güneş and will compete in the Europa League group stages.
Mikel’s compatriot, Victor Moses is also expected to leave the Stamford Bridge club this summer following the acquisition of Pedro from Barcelona.
Moses is yet to feature this season and was dropped for the West Brom game. Mourinho named youngsters Bertrand Traore and Ruben Loftus-Cheek on the bench instead.
