The All Africa Senior Badminton Championship has been scheduled to kickoff on Monday, April 22, 2019, and run through Sunday, April 28, 2019 in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
18 countries have registered for the event, which is expected to feature elite performances from the top badminton players on the African continent.
All Africa Championships
Alongside tournament host Nigeria, Algeria, Benin, Botswana, Congo, Congo DRC, Eritrea, Egypt, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Mauritius, Seychelles, South Africa, Togo, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe, will all be vying for honors at the badminton championship.
The Badminton Federation of Nigeria (BFN) has selected eighteen players to represent Nigeria at the games later this month.
Also on the list of delegates are three apex coaches who will handle the Nigerian team at the event.
The women’s team for the championships comprises of the likes of Dorcas Adesokan, Deborah Ukeh, Peace Orji, Chinenye Ibere, Amin Christopher, Sofiat Obanisola, Ramatu Yakubu, Zainab Alabi and Augustina Sunday.
The men’s team includes first-rate Nigerian players including Anuoluwapo Opeyori, Godwin Olofua, Eneojo Abah, Clement Krobakpo, Habeeb Bello, Aliyu Shehu, Gideon Babalola, Kayode Mope and Isaac Minaphee.
The coaches expected to manage the team at the games are head coach, Benjamin Orakpo, who will be duly assisted by George Shitta and Susan Agboola.
