2baba‘s smash hit ‘Amaka’, featuring Peruzzi, has been widely loved. You can hardly go a day without hearing it played in a public place.
Now you need to hear Aramide’s cover for the song.
Emeka by Aramide
Aramide’s cover is titled Emeka. She personalises the song, switching 2baba’s latest song to a mellow, soulful rhythm.
The political science graduate released her debut album in 2016 and featured a number of A-class artistes including Sound Sultan, Ice Prince and Adekunle Gold. Her music is heavily influenced by the works of Sade, AngéliqueKidjo, Erykah Badu and Miriam Makeba, and is sometimes rendered in her native Yoruba.
Aramide is a two-time winner of the Headies awards and was awarded Best Female Artist in West Africa at the 2016 edition of Africa Music Awards – AFRIMA. The singer was spotted earlier in the year in a United States studio with Grammy award-winning singer and songwriter, Lara Lavi, working on her soon to be released sophomore album.
