The winner of the Yale Drama Series Playwriting competition will be awarded the $10,000 David Charles Horn Prize, a publication of the winning manuscript by Yale University Press, and a celebratory event.

To be eligible for the program:
- Plays must be written in the English language.
- Submissions are accepted from every part of the globe.
- Applicants must submit original plays that are unpublished, with a minimum of 65 pages. Plays that are below 65 pages will not be accepted. Translations, children’s plays, and musicals will not be accepted.
- The program is aimed at supporting emerging playwrights; previous winners are not advised to apply.

- Playwrights can only make one submission per year.
- A submitted play must not be under option, commissioned, or scheduled for publication at the time of submission.
- Submissions must be typed, word-processed, and page-numbered.
