  Creo and Sony are inviting applications for the Sustainability Prize 2025 for Photographers and Filmmakers. The program is targeted at filmmakers passionate about communicating key themes such as environment, accessibility, diversity, equity, and inclusion, which are linked to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Also, the Sustainability Prize 2025 aims to “amplify the smaller stories exploring these social and environmental issues; the initiative spotlights one short film from the Sony Future Filmmaker Awards and one series from the Sony World Photography Awards Professional competition.” The Sustainability Prize is a part of the global year-round Creators for the Planet engagement established by Sony Pictures and the United Nations Foundation and developed through collaboration with Creo. Creators for the Platform is designed to mobilize and inspire people towards a call to action through photography and film.

Eligibility criteria for the program include:

  • It is open to members of the public except for employees of the promoter or its holding or subsidiary companies and employees of agents or suppliers of the promoter or its holding or subsidiary companies that are connected professionally with the competition or its administration.
  • The student category of the program is only open to students who are currently attending an institution whose film course/credit/module is formalized and taught at a higher education level (degree/diploma).
  • Student filmmakers must ensure that they are registered as students at the time of their application to be considered eligible.
  • The applicant’s entry must be produced between January 1, 2023, and December 12, 2024.

Prizes:

  • Winners will receive a cash award of $5,000 each and also Sony digital imaging equipment alongside promotion across the Sony Future Filmmaker Awards and the World Photography Organisation channels and websites.
  • The entries of the winners will also get the chance to be honoured during a United Nations Foundation and Sony Pictures-hosted showcase.
