  The Schlumberger Schlumberger Foundation Faculty Fellowship is focused on women underrepresented in STEM disciplines in developing and emerging countries.

To solve the challenges faced by these women, the Schlumberger Foundation Faculty Fellowship  offers a yearly $50,000 grant to women in developing countries to pursue PhD or post-doctoral research in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) disciplines at reputable universities around the world. Launched in 2004 by the SLB Foundation, the program has expanded to a community of 863 women from 90 countries and has a plan to ensure that more women study STEM-related courses.

To qualify for the grant program:

  • The applicant must be a woman and citizen of a developing or emerging country where women are underrepresented in STEM disciplines.
  • You are ineligible if you hold dual citizenship, of which one citizenship is of a developed country. Please note: if you have been awarded a Faculty for the Future grant and after the award you become a citizen of a developed country, you will be stripped of the grant.
  • The applicant must be a woman preparing to undertake a PhD degree or postdoctoral research in a STEM discipline. Master’s degree students are not eligible.
  • The applicant must have an excellent academic record.
  • The applicant must have applied to a host university or research institute abroad.
  • If the applicant is applying for a sandwich program, the final degree must be awarded by the host university abroad or jointly.
  • The applicant must be willing to return to their home country after the completion of their studies.
  • The applicant must have a proven record of teaching experience in their home country.

Some of the benefits of the program include:

  • The program provides a maximum scholarship offer of USD 50,000 per year for PhD students and $40,000 every year for post-doctoral researchers, with the option of renewal until the completion of studies.
  • The applicant must show commitment toward inspiring girls and women into STEM.
