  The Jim Ovia Undergraduate Scholarship is sponsored by Jim Ovia, a prominent Nigerian banker and Chief Executive Officer of Zenith Bank. It covers the full cost of tuition for selected candidates as well as an annual living stipend of N150,000 until they complete their tertiary education program.

Since the inception of the Jim Ovia Undergraduate Scholarship program in October 2010, over 1500 beneficiaries have gained from the over 100 million naira invested by Jim Ovia into the scheme. Part of the scholarship’s goal is to “create a network of future leaders within Nigeria who can compete globally with their peers, bring new ideas, and creativity, and are committed to improving the lives and circumstances of people in their respective communities.”

To be eligible for the scholarship

  • The applicant must be a citizen of Nigeria.
  • The applicant must be currently or potentially enrolled in a program in an accredited tertiary institution in Nigeria.
  • The applicant must be able to demonstrate academic and leadership prowess.
  • The applicant must have a strong passion for positively contributing to the society.
