  Teaching is a reputable profession, and the Grooming Endowment Teachers Appreciation Program (GETAP) is designed to empower teachers across Nigeria. In the 2024 edition of the program, 12 teachers benefited, and applications are currently ongoing for the 2025 cohort.

The major goal of the Grooming Endowment Teachers Appreciation Program is to provide support for teachers and reward teachers who are diligent in communities considered low-income and underfunded. At least 12 teachers will benefit from the program in 2025, and they will be selected from Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones (two teachers from each geopolitical zone).

They will be rewarded with a cash sum of two hundred thousand naira (N200,000) each and other resources in kind. The reward aims to alleviate some of the financial and economic burdens teachers face in their passionate discharge of duties to society.

To be considered eligible for the program:

  • The applicant must be a Nigerian citizen with a valid means of identification.
  • The applicant must be currently employed as a teacher or educator in a primary or secondary school (public or private).
  • The applicant must display innovation or impact in teaching.
  • The applicant must demonstrate an interest in continuity in teaching to help more children and inspire more people to become teachers.
  • The applicant must have a minimum teaching experience of three years.
