The Global AI Safety Fellowship is a fully funded program open to all nationals, as selected candidates will be invited for a rigorous selection process of 4-6 weeks with the major aim of selecting “a cohort of technically skilled individuals with a knack for working on complex problems.”

Some of the benefits of the program include:
- Fellows will receive comprehensive funding that covers their living expenses and research costs.
- Fellows will also receive resources for building foundational knowledge in AI safety.
- Fellows will receive mentorship from experts.
- Selected candidates will be opportune to have coaching calls with the academy’s team and facilitate in-person work with partner organisations.

To be eligible:
- Candidates must be available for at least 3 months of full-time work, which will start in February or March 2025.
- Candidates from every part of the globe, including those from areas that are underrepresented, are eligible.
- Candidates below 18 years by January 2025 are not eligible.
- The applicant must demonstrate knowledge of machine learning and deep learning (for example, a first-author ML research paper).
- The applicant should demonstrate experience in programming (for example, one year of experience working as a software engineer in a leading tech company).
- The applicant should be excellent academically.
- Demonstrated interest in pursuing research aimed at reducing the risk attached to advanced AI systems.
- Candidates without the qualities mentioned above are still encouraged to apply.
