“Two are better than one because they have a good return for their labour” a wise man once said.
Over time we have found this to be true and even fine-tuned it to two good heads are better than one. The strength of a group, united to achieve a common course is nothing compared to an individual who wants to achieve the same aim. This was the idea that has birth the Innovation Support Network (ISN). The ISN is a community of Hubs in Nigeria with the goal of promoting collaboration amongst hubs, entrepreneurship and building an innovative ecosystems across Nigeria.
With a mission to “create jobs, stimulate socio-economic growth in Nigeria leveraging science, technology and innovation by supporting member hubs and their communities with capacity, knowledge, finance, network and enabling policies,” ISN is a non-profit organization. It is believed that this collaboration would strengthen each hub in terms of funds, opportunities and partnerships that can help the startup ecosystem develop and progress at a faster rate. This would be done through collaboration and partnerships that would assist each hub meet its individual goal while having an idea of what is happening in other regions especially when the need for expansion to other states arises.
ISN was formed by a coalition of 75 hubs located in different geographical locations in Nigeria. Some of the member hubs include Aiivon Innovation Hub in Lagos, Blaze Incubation Group in Abuja, Bubble Innovation Hub in Rivers, DI Hub in Kano, EnovateLab in Kano, Founders Hub in Kwara, and others located in Enugu, Abia, Jos, Katsina and Akwa Ibom. In order for the organization to operate with world-class corporate governance, 5 member hubs were elected to run its affairs and report to the Executive committee made up of the founding hubs.
Speaking on the aim of ISN hubs, the marketing director, Chukwuemeka Fred Agbata Jnr, says
ISN hubs aims to create a platform for increasing collaboration between hubs through the facilitation of the identification, exchange and use of commercial best practices by workspaces, incubators and accelerators in Nigeria”.
