Part of the program is a hackathon where selected fellows gain support to generate ideas/solutions. A venture-building program will provide teams with funding, support, and mentorship to build and scale their products. The hackathon, implemented by Heave Ventures, is supported by the FMO. The 2024 AgriTech Hackathon and Venture Building program also set out to identify and build early-stage companies across the African continent. It will run in two phases for six months:

To be eligible for application:
- Your business must be in the early stages of development.
- You should have a team of workers with experience and skills relevant to building an agritech business. Experiences could be in agriculture, technology, marketing, or business development.
- The applicant must have a strong passion for agriculture and be interested in making a strong impact in the agricultural sector.
- You must be committed to the program.
- Your business must be legally registered.
