  The Allan Gray Centre for Africa Entrepreneurship (AGCAE) is accepting applications for its full-time, funded master’s and doctoral degree research scholarship programs.

Selected fellows for the Allan Gray Centre doctorate and master’s degree scholarships will commence studies on February 10, 2025, at Stellenbosch University in South Africa.

The scholarship is in two categories

  • AGCAE Doctoral Scholarships: Full-time doctoral scholarships valued at R250,000 per year for three years.
  • AGCAE Masters Scholarships: Full-time masters scholarships valued at R150 000 per year for two years.

To be eligible for the scholarship

  • The applicant must meet the minimum criteria for admission to a PhD program at Stellenbosch University. This includes a master’s degree in a relevant field.
  • The applicant must meet the minimum criteria for admission to a master’s program at Stellenbosch University. This includes an honours degree in a relevant field.
  • South African citizens and nationals of other African countries are eligible for the scholarships. However, preference will be given to South Africans and African nationals from disadvantaged backgrounds.

  • The applicant must have achieved a minimum of 70% aggregate in his/her master’s program to be considered eligible for the AGCAE Doctoral Scholarships and a 70% aggregate in his/her honours programs to be eligible for the AGCAE Master’s Scholarships.
  • Only applications that cover AGCAE’s research themes will be accepted.
  • Only candidates who apply for the relevant PhD and master’s programs will be shortlisted.
