The 9-month is dedicated to a network of change makers who are motivated to strengthen health communication across the African continent. The Africa Health Communications Fellowship will promote two cohorts comprised of health journalists and experts in the health sector who are offering access to bespoke training workshops, resources, and grant support with the major aim of improving the quality of health reporting in Africa.

The benefits of the program include:
- Fellows will become part of a series of virtual health communication workshops.
- Fellows will gain access to an e-course on health reporting and communication.
- Fellows will gain the opportunity to be part of an in-person conference in Johannesburg, South Africa.
- A stipend for internet data will be provided.
- A grant will be provided for story production.

To be considered eligible for the program:
- It is open to health journalists and experts from Nigeria, Ethiopia, Kenya, South Africa, Malawi, and Zambia.
- Applying journalists must demonstrate experience in health reporting and work for a publication or media house.
- A health expert could be a researcher, public health official, scientist, community health worker, academic, activist, or civil society campaigner.
