  In collaboration with the United Nations Environment Programme, Parsons School of Design, strategic consulting and communications agency BPCM, and the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, the African Development Bank Fashionomics Africa is inviting applications for its 2024 AFDB Fashionomics Africa Program.

African fashion brands are invited to apply for the AFDB Fashionomics Africa Program, which is offering $6,000 in cash prizes, mentorship, branding, and other forms of support for African designers of sustainable and circular fashion that emerge winners. To qualify, applicants must engage in environmentally friendly practices, sustainability, and circular economy initiatives. The designer or brand that presents the “best sustainable design” will receive a cash prize of $3,000 along with other awards. Additionally, two runners-up will each be granted a cash prize of $1,500 and additional support. African textile, apparel, and accessories entrepreneurs with a maximum of 50 employees who have produced sustainable designs in the past five years are the major targets of the program.

Selected applicants will be required to:

  • Submit pictures of their products.
  • Detail their sustainable business model.
  • Explain how their startup is environmentally friendly and innovative.

To be eligible for the program:

  • Applicants with over three years of experience in the management of their business (registered or not) should select the accelerator program.
  • Applicants with 0 to 3 years of experience in managing their business (registered or not) should apply for the incubator program.
