The NLNG Undergraduate Scholarship is “designed to support exceptional first-year students (in the 2024/2025 academic session) in Nigerian universities, equipping them with the resources to excel academically and contribute to national development.” It is an inclusive program, as persons living with disabilities (PLWDs) can also apply. An annual scholarship amount of 300,000 naira, which is renewable upon academic performance, is available for selected fellows.
To be considered for the scholarship
- The applicant must be a Nigerian citizen and currently residing in the country.
- The applicant must be between the ages of 18 and 25 during the application.
- You must be currently enrolled as a first-year student in the 2024/25 academic session in an accredited federal or state university.
- The applicant must possess at least five O-Level credits, including English and Mathematics in WASSCE, SSCE, or NECO, in one sitting.
- The applicant must not be a beneficiary of another scholarship or grant from any organisation.
- The applicant must not be a spouse, child, ward, or a direct family relation of an NLNG staff.
- Applicants from NLNG host communities must provide a valid identification letter from the host community and the Local Government Council.

Required documents for application include:
- Complete Application Form
- Passport photograph with white background not more than 3 months old (450px by 450px, not more than 200kb)
- O-Level and UTME results
- University and JAMB Admission Letter
- University student ID card
- National Population Commission Issued Birth Certificate
- Local Government Area (LGA) letter of identification
- National ID Number (NIN) Slip

Application documents for students from host communities include
- Local Government Area (LGA) letter of identification
- Complete academic transcripts from 100 level to the most recent academic year, signed and stamped by the university’s registry, exams unit, or the appropriate authority.
- Community letter of identification signed by a Community Development Committee (CDC) chairman or paramount ruler/king.
