The 2025/2026 UNESCO-Hamdan Prize for Teacher Development is now welcoming applications. This distinguished award was founded in 2008 to improve teaching and learning quality in alignment with Sustainable Development Goal 4 for education, which stands as a central focus for UNESCO.

The Prize is awarded every two years through the generous support of the Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences (Hamdan Foundation).
Eligibility Requirements
Organisations involved in educational and learning initiatives may submit applications, encompassing:
- Domestic and international organisations and institutions.
- Governmental and non-governmental organisations.
- Academic and research institutions.
- Individual project applications will not be considered and are ineligible for participation.

How to Nominate:
UNESCO Member State governments via their National Commissions to UNESCO, along with Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) holding official UNESCO partnerships, are authorised to nominate candidate projects.
Each nominating body (National Commissions and partner NGOs) is limited to submitting up to 5 candidate projects. Self-nominations submitted directly are not allowed.
The Prize offers a total of US$300,000 in funding (distributed equally among three winners), and each recipient also receives a certificate. Award winners benefit from increased visibility, broader networking opportunities, and international recognition. Victorious projects demonstrate outstanding achievements in improving teaching practices and raising educational standards, with proven potential for replication and interdisciplinary learning applications.
