Did you rush to get the iPhone 5 a few months ago? It is outdated now. Yesterday, Apple released a new set of iPhones (the 5S and the 5C) that may put a previous owner to tears. Not only is it newer, better and faster, the 5C is also something Apple owners never thought it would be- cheaper. Let us take a look at the specs. Tech Specs for the iPhone 5C:

Weight: 4.65 ounces (132 grams).

Cameras: 8-megapixel camera on back, 1.2-megapixel on front.
Video recording: high-definition (1080p — comparable to the resolution of a 40-inch flat panel TV) up to 30 frames per second with audio.
Battery life: Talk time is up to 10 hours on 3G. Internet works for up to 10 hours on LTE and up to 10 hours on Wi-Fi. Up to 10 hours of video playback. Battery can be replaced by service personnel only.
Color options: White, pink, yellow, blue or green.

Not only does the 5C come in five different colours to choose from, the price makes it a viable and affordable option for Lagosians, who seem to show preference for cheap phones capable of accessing the internet. Having settled for Techno and Blackberries in the past, this new price might be a game changer for the Apple market in Lagos. A $99 contract price on the 32gig model may translate to a $300- $400 non-contract price, which falls within the N50,000 price range. All this give a new meaning to a statement made by Tim Cook earlier this year, who revealed that the company had never been more innovative. A statement that seemed elusive then finally makes sense now, as this new strategy to introduce affordable iPhones into the mainstream mobile market might just re-define Apple’s dominance in this part of the world. The phones will begin sales next week, and we await reactions in Lagos.
