APPLE has finally announced the new iPhones at an event that held yesterday in San Francisco. The two new iPhones pretty much stuck to the rumour sheet as regards to its design and features.

The iPhone 7 spots a 4.7-inch screen with water and dust resistance and some new stereo speakers, and also has the longest battery life of any iPhone, thanks to the new A10 Fusion processor inside.  The new model also features a RetinaHD display that’s about 25% brighter than the older model and comes with the legendary 3D touch. The headphone jack is actually gone, we are not sure if it’s gone for good or not, but Apple has 3 new options that you can choose from for your audio output; you can use Apple’s new wireless AirPod headphones (basically an EarPod devoid of wires), or opt for the revised EarPod headphones with lightning cable (included in the retail box). There’s also a 3.5mm to Lightning port adapter that’ll enable you to use your old headphones.

Apple has also redesigned the ‘Home’ button. The new home button uses a ‘taptic engine’ to give you physical feedback when you press it. It’s now pressure sensitive (like 3D touch stuff) as opposed to the usual physical clicking

The camera department has seen lots of enhancements too with an updated 12MP wide-angle camera with f/1.8 six-element lens and optical image stabilization. The sensor is 60% faster and 30% more efficient than the previous camera system. The front-facing camera also has its resolution bumped up to 7MP together with 1080p video quality. With a new wide colour gamut, the Retina HD display is able to deliver cinema‑standard colours — and the best colour management in the smartphone industry. More shades of the colour spectrum can be used to create an image, meaning that what you see on the screen is a truer representation of the world. So whether you’re checking out photos of that perfect dress or Live Photos you took in the tropics, the colours will be so accurate, it will look like you’re there.Apple camera

The bigger 7 – The iPhone 7plus has a 5.5-inch screen and comes with very much the same specs as its smaller sibling except that the iPhone 7plus comes with a dual camera which is basically the same 12MP snapper that is seen on the iPhone 7, plus another 12MP telephoto camera that offers you high-quality zoom and improved detailing.

Both devices will be up for preorder on September 9th and will be available in the market on September 16th. They are also expected to ship with iOS 10 on board. In Europe, the iPhone 7 will retail for €759 for the 32GB variant, €869 for the 128GB model and €979 for the 256GB one.

Apple Watch series

Apple also announced a new Apple Watch called Apple Watch Series 2. The new watch is water resistant, has a brighter screen, a faster dual-core processor, a more powerful graphics chip and built-in GPS. Another interesting announcement was the Pokémon Go app for Apple watch. There’s also a Nike themed model designed for runners. Apple also announced the launch of Super Mario Bros on iOS. It was followed by a surprise walk-through from Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto who showed the audience how to play Super Mario Bros with one hand
