Anthony Joshua has sent a direct threat to the heavyweight fighters who want a shot at his belts, stating that he is ready to take on any challenger who thinks he can survive in a ring with him.

The World Boxing Association (WBA), World Boxing Organization (WBO), International Boxing Federation (IBF) and International Boxing Organization (IBO) heavyweight champion, will end his 9-month extended boxing leave when he makes his stateside debut against Mexican underdog, Andy Ruiz, on June 1, at the Madison Square Garden in New York.

Joshua, 29, has everything to lose when he takes on Ruiz next month and the boxer is not about to take any chances against the Mexican.

Ruiz, on the other hand, has been given an opportunity of a lifetime and is eager to prove his worth to the heavyweight division by defeating Joshua and capturing his belts.

“I know how to fight. Give me five years out of the ring and I could still come back.

“I am at a stage where fights are tough, you get a bit of rust, but nothing a bit of WD40 and polish can’t get sparkling again for June 1.”

Although many believe Ruiz may not give Joshua the challenge fans hope to see, the British fighter is not about to underestimate the Mexican power puncher.

“You can’t underestimate any heavyweight so I don’t take Andy lightly.

“He has shown he has heart, he can fight, he can box and that’s what matters.

“He will bring it and it’s my duty to beat him. I will look to break him down one round at a time.

“It might not be round one, but my main aim is to put on a spectacular show for the fans.”

If Joshua succeeds in defeating Ruiz, next on his plate would be a fight with Deontay Wilder in other to unify all four heavyweight belts in an undisputed championship fight.
