American boxing heavyweight, Jarrell Miller, has made an offer to fight Anthony Joshua at the Madison Square Garden in May 2019.
Miller’s promoter, Dmitry Salita, told Sky Sports that he and his team are awaiting a response from Joshua on the possible next big fight of 2019 in the United States.
Unified world heavyweight champion, Joshua, is billed to fight in April, at the Wembley Stadium. However, this is still uncertain as no opponent has been named for the big showdown.
An undisputed fight with the World Boxing Council champion, Deontay Wilder, would have been Joshua’s biggest fight of 2019. However, Wilder has opted for a rematch against a linear champion, Tyson Fury, ahead of a big-money Joshua bout.
It is popular opinion that Wilder does not consider Fury a threat to his title, whereas Joshua could potentially rid him of it for good.
Without Wilder’s consent, Joshua may have to face frontrunner, Dillian Whyte; however, even this is still debatable.
Miller, who was ringside with Anthony Joshua when Whyte knocked out Derek Chisora in December, is playing on the uncertainty of Joshua’s next fight to make a compelling offer to the Nigerian-Brit champion for a grand showdown in New York.
“Jarrell is the best American heavyweight, and has always expressed his interest to fight Joshua, so the ball is in his court. If it happens at Madison Square Garden, it would bring back the heavyweight memories of Mike Tyson and Riddick Bowe, the boxing greats from Brooklyn, New York.” — Dmitry Salita
