Milwaukee Bucks and all-star National Basketball Association player, Giannis Antetokounmpo, is not about to forget his Nigerian roots, as the player plans on visiting Nigeria to retrace his family line.

Both Antetokounmpo’s parents were born and raised in Nigeria. However, the 6’11 NBA All-Star was born in Greece, three years after his family migrated to southeastern Europe.

The Greek Freak

The Greek Freak, as he is fondly called, is in line for the MVP awards this season following his astounding performance for the Bucks so far.

The shooting guard averages 24 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists, 2 blocks, and 2 steals per game.

The Nigerian is such a huge deal in the NBA that he was given the honor to select and captain 12 of the NBA’s best 24 players, against another 12 led by NBA superstar Lebron James.

Antetokounmpo is an NBA sensation not just because of his amazing skill with the ball, or his enormously huge hands. The player has also got a very big heart.

I want to see where my family comes from, where my mum was raised, see my family, and see where my dad was raised. That is very important. I hope my kids can do the same thing for me.

Obviously, I am going to have kids that are going to grow up in the US, but one day I hope they can go back to Greece and visit and see where I grew up, the playground I was playing.”

Antetokounmpo said in an interview with TheUndefeated.
