Schools have officially resumed in Nigeria. So, tell me, what plans have you outlined for breakfast? Will it still be buttered bread and tea or Indomie all week long? Not that there’s anything wrong with these two meals but when they are taken every morning, week after week, it gets boring. Take bread, for instance, buttering it is not the only way to enjoy it.

You can scramble eggs or make an omelette to eat with the bread. But you can also make French toast. Today, I’ll show you how to make French toast. This recipe is one that even a beginner can prepare and it will turn out well. I learnt this recipe from TSpices. But I prefer to toast mine a different way- with the crust intact. Sit tight and you’ll see that just like I promised, this one is a quick meal to prepare.

Ingredients for Making French Toast

6 slices of bread 4 eggs 3 scotch bonnet peppers Green pepper 3 tablespoons of milk Butter A medium-sized onion Stock cube and salt to taste

How to Prepare

The first step as always is to prepare or measure out the ingredients. Thus, rinse the peppers. Deseed the green pepper; dice it and the scotch bonnet pepper separately. Peel and dice the onions. Measure out the milk into a clean cup and break the eggs into a clean bowl. Bring out the butter. Open the bread and take out six slices.

Add milk into the bowl of egg. Add the chopped onions, green pepper, scotch bonnet pepper, stock cube and salt into the bowl of egg. Whisk all these ingredients together. Get a clean frying pan. Place it on medium heat. Add some butter to it and allow it to melt. When it does, lay a slice of bread in the pan. Carefully and generously spread the egg mixture on the centre of the bread. Now, place another slice on top. Afterwards, toast the bread on one side for a few minutes. Flip and toast the other side. When both sides are golden brown, scoop the bread out of the pan. Repeat this process for the remaining bread slices. When they’ve all been toasted, serve and enjoy with tea or any cold drink. So, tell me, what do you think of this sharp-sharp recipe? It’s easy and delicious abi? Oya, go ahead and brighten your family’s morning with this recipe.   Reference Tspices Kitchen Featured Image Source:  Archana Mundhe via Ministry of Curry
