D’Tigers forward, Al-farouq Aminu, has agreed to a three-year $29m deal with Florida-based American professional basketball team, Orlando Magic.

According to Punch, the 28-year-old baller opted for a move to Florida from the Portland Trail Blazers.

Aminu is expected to complete his move to Orlando Magic on July 6, when NBA free-agent contracts are signed.

While playing for the Trail Blazers in his four season with the team, Aminu averaged 9.5 points and 7.1 rebounds, making 1.4 3-pointers per game.

Career Record

After declaring his eligibility for the National Basketball Association in 2011, Aminu was selected by Los Angeles Clippers as the eighth overall pick.

He spent a year with the Clipper before he was traded to New Orleans, as part of a Chris Paul deal, where he spent another three seasons with the Charlotte Hornets and the New Orleans Pelicans.

Aminu then moved to Dallas Mavericks, where he spent a season before being traded off to the Blazers.

He was part of Nigeria’s dream team that won the 2015 Afrobasket in Tunisia.

Aminu was named alongside 43 other players in Coach Alex Nwora’s 44-man preliminary 2019 FIBA World Cup squad list.

It is expected that the Blazers man will make the final cut and represent Nigeria at the global event where they will first take on top basketball nations such as Russia, Argentina and South Korea.
