Head coach of Nigeria’s Home-based Super Eagles, Imama Amapakabo, remains confident as the squad intensifies preparations for the second-leg of their 2020 African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifying match against the Sparrow Hawks of Togo on Saturday, October 19, 2019.

The game is slated to hold at the Agege Stadium, Lagos state, and has seen the Amapakabo charges intensify training at the FIFA Goal Project, Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja since their return from Senegal after participating in the 2019 WAFU/FOX Cup of Nations.

The Super Eagles Team B faces an uphill task of overturning a 4-1 defeat suffered in the hands of the Togolese in the first-leg, but Amapakabo is optimistic his boys will get the job done.

We have a big job at hand, and I have been drumming it into the ears of the players that we cannot afford to fail. The Togolese won 4-1 on their home ground; nothing says we cannot do better on our own home ground…

We have to be focused and determined. We must create chances and put them away, because we cannot afford not to be at the African Nations Championship.

It will be recalled that the home Eagles finished second at the last edition of the tournament, held in Morocco in 2018. The winner over the two-legged encounter will qualify for the 6th CHAN finals, billed to hold in Cameroon in June 2020.
