Algeria vs Nigeria: CAF Responds to Refree Eric Otogo-Castane’s Penalty Call against Nigeria.

The Confederation of African Football, CAF, censured Gabonese Referee Eric Otogo-Castane for making a harsh penalty call against the Super Eagles oFriday’sys matchup which led to a 1-1 draw.

The football body expressed their dissatisfaction with the decision of the referee in a statement released on their website cafonline.com, stating that the decision to award a penalty by the referee was a ‘harsh’ one. CAF also asserted that Shehu Abdullahi who was presumed to have fouled Yacine Brahaimi in the box didn’t in fact foul the forward.

“Yacine Brahimi won and converted a harshly-awarded late penalty to rescue a 1-1 draw for Algeria against already-qualified Nigeria Friday in a World Cup Africa zone Group B dead-rubber.” CAF also added.

“The Gabonese referee ruled that Abdullahi Shehu fouled Brahimi as he moved into the box in Constantine, but big-screen replays suggested otherwise.”
