  Hoffenheim of Germany defender, Kevin Akpoguma, has expressed his delight at making his Nigerian national team debut on Friday, October 9, 2020. A Ramy Bensebaini  6th minute strike was all the North Africans needed to claim victory on Friday night, but the former German U-20 national team captain is impressed with his debut and is looking forward to more game time with the three-time African champions. Akpoguma was introduced in the 67th minute of the encounter to replace Tyrone Ebuehi and impressed greatly in his 23 minutes of action.

‘I’m very impressed and proud to be a Nigerian player fully. I’m looking forward to the best games already.We lost [against Algeria] but we tried our best to get a point from the game because in the last 10 minutes we pressured them well but we, however, failed to get the needed equalizer. It’s just a test game and I am sure the coaches have seen what we can improve on.So, now we are looking forward to our next game and most importantly our AFCON qualifiers next month.’ Kevin Akpoguma

After failing in their bid to end the 18-games unbeaten run of Algeria, the Super Eagles have shifted focus to Tuesday’s (October 13) friendly against the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia who are out to revenge their 1-0 loss to Nigeria during the third-place match of 2019 AFCON in Egypt which saw Nigeria win bronze.
