My name is Aishat preferably called Aisha and yes, I am a practicing Muslim, still heading towards perfection though but ‘I dey try’. My respect for Allah has never and would never be reduced irrespective of whatever violence some of my fellow Muslims practice out there majorly out of ignorance. I usually don’t write, but when the issue of 9 people being sentenced to death for blaspheming came up I just felt as a Muslim this would be the perfect time to share my thoughts. As hard as it is for me to prove that Islam is a religion of peace and some people are just naturally violent and total hypocrites, I would love to share my personal knowledge of Sharia law with you. Sharia or Sharia law truly is the Islamic legal system derived from the religious precepts of Islam, particularly the Quran and the Hadith. The term sharia comes from the ARABIC language term Sharīʿah, which means a body of moral and religious law derived from religious prophecy, as opposed to human legislation. Muslims who reject the Hadith as a source of law, sometimes referred to as Quranists, suggest that only laws derived exclusively from the Quran are valid stating that the Hadiths in modern use are not explicitly mentioned in the Quran as a source of Islamic theology and practice so therefore they were not recorded in written form until more than two centuries after the death of the Prophet Muhammed (PBUH). The authenticity of the Hadiths remains a question. Now the word ARABIC was purposely written boldly in order for us to get the true source of where this law is from which is the ARAB land. Till date, if you steal in Saudi Arabia and you are caught, I can assure you 101% that your hands are off. Why? These are their laws, not necessarily Islamic laws. Agreed they were all practiced then alongside using of veils, engaging in war battles even their kings marrying several wives and their cousins marrying each other etc., so its only proper we sieve the main content and leave the irrelevant ones that don’t correspond with our culture and where we live. As a Muslim, I am not meant to kneel down for anybody as if I’m their slave but hellllllo? I am also a Yoruba girl and kneeling down is what we do. So does this mean HELLFIRE???? … My point exactly! A lot of rules and regulations accompanied Islam based on where it originated from and their culture which brings me back to the sentencing of 9 people to death for expressing their right to freedom of speech. If I’m right, a true Muslim isn’t meant to be carried away  with worldly things and western civilization but I am certain these Sharia law dictators have phones, cars and other luxurious things that were created by western civilization, so why be a cruel hypocrite and lie on Islam when even you are not holy. I am a Muslim and my God doesn’t support killing so I say YES to #SaveKanoNine.   I want to hear your opinion on this matter, please share them in the comment section below.     -Aisha     Photo Credit: Deviantart.com
