According to TechCabal, Airtel Nigeria has launched MatchUp, a social networking portal that connects users with those who share similar interests and profiles with them. “The service is a medium for Airtel customers to connect with each other for various reasons including friendship, dating and business relationships among others,” Airtel said in a news release. “At some point, people want to relate with others who are in the same field or share common interests,” said Maurice Newa, chief commercial officer at Airtel Nigeria, “It can be students in the same field or professionals who render similar services, better still, youths or singles who want to initiate friendships or relationships.” MatchUp is one of the startups who won a NGN 1 million ($5000) grant each and support at the Airtel catapult-A-Startup competition earlier this year.
