Late South African President, Nelson Mandel has been immortalized by the heads of states at the 22nd ordinary session of the African Union in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
In honour of his influence on humanity in his lifetime, the major conference hall of the African Union headquarters has been named after the great leader.
Late Nelson Mandela was an activist, philanthropist and politician who was the president of South Africa from 1994 to 1999.
He died on December 5, 2013 at the age of 95 after a protracted illness.
Jacob Zuma, South African President, in his speech at the AU Assembly, expressed sincere appreciation to the Union for the honour bestowed on the late icon.
