We are thrilled to announce the charming Mr.Nigeria. Emmanuel Ikubese as the host, and Denrele Edun as the red carpet host of Africa Fashion Week Nigeria 2015.
Emmanuel Ikubese
Emmanuel Ikubese is a graduate of International Relations from the United States International University, Nairobi, Kenya. This is also where his journey to celebrity started, participating in the Mr. & Mrs. USIU contest. This contest also served as a platform for him to run as the president of International Students’ Club. During this time, he also organised many cultural events at his school.
Emmanuel is talented singer, actor, TV host, and model. His mother ran an entertainment company in Nigeria, which was a great life influence. After winning the first edition of United States International University’s Pop Idol competition, he continued to achieve:
-Representing his school at various international programs like the Harvard Nation Model United Nations as a delegate in Boston.
-Performing at various shows with popular Nigerian and East African media acts such as Wyre, Redsan, Darey, Basketmouth, Chidinma, D’banj, Cecile, and Chris Martin.
-Recording songs with Timaya and other top African acts.
He also rocked several runways as a model, including the prestigious FAFA (Fashion for Peace), a charity event that brought top designers and models in Africa and diaspora to Kenya.
Emmanuel showcased his acting prowess while playing the role of Femi in the award winning MTV Base drama series, ‘SHUGA’ that took Africa and the entire world by storm. On this project, he worked with Lupita Nyongo, Banky W, Wizkid, Ice Prince etc.
In December 2013, Emmanuel relocated back to Nigeria and has since secured several lead roles in movies. He participated in the Mr. Nigeria 2014 contest and emerged as the winner in April, 2014. He then went on to represent Nigeria at the Mr. World 2014 contest, where he emerged as the first runner up, Mr. World 2014. He also won the Fashion and Style Award. Emmanuel is the first African to reach the position of the second most desirable man as well as most fashionable and stylish man in the world.
Emmanuel has an undying passion to care for children and inspire young people around the world. This led to “The Emmanuel Ikubese Foundation”. The aim is to advocate for children who have no parent caring for them. Emmanuel believes that every child should be cared for. He also aims to advocate against domestic violence.
He is currently establishing relationships with several orphanages in Nigeria and working on movies to help advocate against domestic violence.
Denrele Edun
Adenrele Olufemi Edun started out professionally on the NTA Network soap opera “KIDIVISION 101” playing ‘Dubem’ the loquacious reporter. He was on the show from 1995 till 1998 and got his first major magazine cover, TV GUIDE in 1997 and thus became the highest paid kid actor on the show.
He also joined the Action Health Incorporated; Nigerian Youth Action Rangers from 1997-1998 and immediately he gained admission into the University of Lagos, he joined Theatre 15 Unilag (1999-2004) which had the likes of Teju Babyface, TeeA, Gbenga Adeyinka, Kunle Bamtefa, Esse Agesse and several other top showbiz entertainers.
From stage, he crossed the divide to the big screen appearing in soap operas like; CrossWorld Blues on DBN Television (major character), Rhapsody, a series directed by Wole Oguntokun, and Everyday People (sub-lead character) among others.
Denrele delved into modelling and became a catwalk model for House of Kese Jabari, Dakova, Mon-Ami, Nobel Afrique, Le Chika Couture, Jimi Adelaja and the St. Moritz Style selection show. As a photography model, his face graced the Fanta Pineapple, Hi-Malt, Menthos ad campaigns and many others.
He became the channel ambassador for Soundcity TV (2005-2010); pioneer face of the brand and original innovator of the “Red Carpet Show on Soundcity Specials”.
His interviewing CV boasts of interviews with international superstars like; Beyonce, En Vogue, Amerie, Lil Kim, Angela Bassett, Kenny Latimore, Boris Kodjoe, Chante Moore, Cuba Gooding Jnr., Lloyd, Vivica A. Fox, Brick and Lace, Joe, Ciara, Snoop Dogg, Busta Rhymes, Mo’Nique, NAS, Mims, Freshly Ground, Jozi, Forrest Whittaker, Danny Glover, Sean Paul, Akon, Ja Rule, Nelly, LL Cool J, Wyclef Jean, The Sugababes, 112, Alesha Dixon (Strictly Come Dancing) and many others he can’t rack his brain cells to remember!
In late 2008, he travelled to Atlanta Georgia with the Nigerian Tourism Expo (organized by Hon. Edem Duke) and got a juicy interview with Tyler Perry (the renowed filmaker) and the Princess of R/B, Ashanti. He also attended the Dolce and Gabbana special recognition party for Elvis Presley and was the opening model for the show wearing an Elvis Presley inspired outfit. He was part of the Carribean Fashion Awards in Barbados and also the winner of the Fire Dancing competition at the Mount Gay Rum Carnival in Bridgetown.
He was the lead presenter for the three seasons (2007-2009) of the MTN/Soundcity Campus storm which was successfully executed in over twenty Nigerian campuses and also handled the first edition of the Glo Rock n Rule show in 2009, He was also Project Director and Head VJ for the three successful seasons of the Soundcity Music Video Awards (SMVA).
He also hosted the most successful edition of The Next Movie Star in 2007 (which had Kevin Chuwang Pam who later won the Big Brother Africa show) and also worked on the Nokia First Chance reality show.
Denrele’s face has graced the cover pages of so many editorials, magazines, brochures, and newspapers.
Asides from his motivational tour which takes him round public secondary schools in Lagos State, he is actively involved with the children’s ward in LUTH especially kids with cancer, first degree burns and spinal injuries.
