african-fashion   This weekend, Nigerian fashion will be making history with its biggest platform created specifically for African inspired fashion; African Fashion Week Nigeria (AFWN). This will be a two-day event that will be held between Saturday the 17th and Sunday the 18th of May, 2014 at the Intercontinental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos. Africa Fashion Week Nigeria is an initiative aimed at creating a platform to promote, encourage and celebrate emerging African-inspired designers by exposing them to a global audience which include media houses, fashion buyers and the general public. It is a great opportunity for emerging fashion designers, fashion gurus and established people within the fashion industry to celebrate style, culture and the diversity of African fashion. In attendance will be fashion designers, fabric manufacturers and printers, jewellers, photographers, make-up artists, models, media houses, buyers, press and many more fashion-related entities. African Fashion Week was created in London 2011 by Ronke Ademiluyi, CEO with impressive turnouts over the years. AFWL has created an unparalleled platform for over 100 UK and non-UK designers who have showcased their collections in London. The First Lady of Ekiti State, Her Excellency Chief Mrs. Erelu Bisi Fayemi was once the patron of the fashion show, while the Nigeria-based architect and businesswoman, Princess Fifi Ejindu, was an ambassador, Nigeria’s number one online music platform, iROKING, OH TV, and FAB magazine went into partnership with them, while Globacom Limited and others were sponsors.
