Former Super Eagles International and team captain, Joseph Yobo, has asked Gernot Rohr not to bother inviting the big-guns for the team’s next month final Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier home game against Seychelles.

The Nigeria senior men’s team have already booked a place in the continental final, however, they will host Seychelles in an inconsequential last group game on March 22.

Yobo is assured the team can do without calling in the ‘big boys’ for the game against Seychelles, who Nigeria already rode over in the first leg of the game in September 2018.

The game is not as important as it’s meant to be. So I want the coach to call up fringe players and up and coming youngsters so that they can also showcase their talent.

The team qualified with a game in hand. It has never been easy for the Eagles to qualify, but they did it.

Yobo believes that the Super Eagles’ short campaign at the 2018 FIFA World Cup has provided the team with the much needed experience to once again reclaim their place atop football in the continent.

As a sportsman you go into any tournament with the aim to win. In 2013 we won and since then we haven’t qualified and as they return to the tournament I have confidence that the team can win. But they shouldn’t put themselves under pressure take one game at a time and let see how it goes.
