This versatile player, who can play as right back, centre back and defensive midfielder, is another member of Nigeria’s 2007 FIFA World Youth Championship squad. Born Efetobore Ambrose Emuobo in Kaduna on 18th October 1988, the tall defender plied his trade at Kaduna United for four years between 2006 and 2010. He took the Israeli route and joined FC Ashdod in 2010 before transferring to Glasgow Celtic in 2012 and was part of the Celtic team that earned a historic one-nil win against FC Barcelona at Celtic Park, Scotland in 2012/2013 UEFA Champions League. After playing for Nigeria in Canada as a junior in 2007, he was picked by Coach Samson Siasia as a member of the U-23 squad for the Beijing Olympics in 2008. He scored his first international goal against Liberia in an AFCON qualifier at Calabar on October 13 2012. He’s making his debut at the 2013 African Cup of Nations. He was sent off in his first match against Burkina Faso for two bookable offences. He bounced back from that disappointment and has been solid ever since. He has kept team captain, Joseph Yobo out of the team, forming a good partnership with the likes of Omeruo, Oboabona and Echejile. On Sunday, he kept Burkina Faso danger-man, Jonathan Pitroipa quiet for most of the 90 minutes game, and joined his team in lifting the coveted AFCON cup.
