Enyimba FC of Aba star, Dayo Ojo, who was kidnapped alongside Abia Warriors’ Benjamin Iluyomade has regained his freedom. Both players regained their freedom on the night of Wednesday, March 25, 2020. It will be recalled that the Nigeria Professional Football League stars were kidnapped along the Benin-Owo Expressway on the eve of Sunday, March 22, 2020, while travelling to Akure due to the four weeks league break caused by the outbreak of the corona virus in Nigeria.

A 20 million Naira ransom was demanded by the players’ abductors and it is not clear how much was paid for their release prior to the announcement of their freedom by officials of the Peoples Elephants (Enyimba FC).
Enyimba midfielder, Ekundayo Ojo, and Abia Comets’ Benjamin Iluyomade, who were kidnapped on Sunday have regained their freedom. The footballers were released on Wednesday night following the combined efforts of Enyimba Football Club and the families of the players. The players have since reunited with their families

Ondo State Police spokesperson, Mr Tee-Leo Ikoro, this morning, Thursday, March 26, 2020, confirmed the release of the NPFL stars.
