The 2019 Exquisite Lady of the Year (ELOY Awards) was held at the Lagos Continental Hotel yesterday. There were more than 10 categories of awards to be won, and several fingers have been crossed since the ELOY nominees were announced earlier this month. To glam things up and emphasise the ideals behind ELOY, the dress code was set as Modern Royalty. Tewa Onasanya, organiser of the ELOY Awards, wore a beautiful jacquard dress that she topped with an Urez Kulture crown.

The ELOY Awards is now in its 11th year. The event was established in 2009. Since then, it has been celebrating Nigerian women across several fields and industries for their character, achievements, and impact. This year, the ELOY Awards show hosts were Bridget Chigbuefue and Deyemi Okanlawon. Bridget Chigbuefue is an actress, media personality, and content creator. Deyemi Okanlawon is a familiar face on Nigerian TV. You may know him from the TV series Gidi Up, or the AMAA nominated film Lara and the Beat.
Nominations are based on a specific period of activity, and selection is a rigorous process of determining if each individual has a proven record of leadership, service, commitment, achievement, integrity, and character. If you would like to know more about what qualities make an ELOY woman, detailed information is available on the ELOY website. Members of the general public had the opportunity to vote for women they admire most in each category, and voting closed on the 15th of November. The Awards ceremony was preceded by an ELOY conference that held on the 13th of November at the Lagos MUSON Centre in Onikan.
Of all categories, one of the most notable winners was former BBNaija housemate CeeC, who won the ELOY Award for Influence this year, making her the winner of this particular award a second year in a row. There was also Etimbuk Imuk, founder of Eti Farms Global. Etimbuk Imuk won the ELOY Foundation Award for Enterprise, making her the recipient of a 1 million naira grant from the ELOY Foundation Business Pitch competition that held at the ELOY Conference on the 13th of November.
