In my years as a primary school student, Thursday mornings were for physical education and how so excited we were as children to engage in those activities. Eight-year-old me surely thought he was getting his money’s worth during the P.E sessions. However, when I recall the technics employed by the then PE coordinator, I realize there’s a whole lot he did not know. How could he? He wasn’t a certified fitness personnel; just some random teacher asked to conduct the morning’s exercises.
I am quite sure that this experience is not only particular to me but also to many others. This nation-wide neglect in primary and secondary school-level sports is one of the reasons why talent development in Nigeria has seen a major downturn over time.
A solution!
Leverage Sports is Nigeria’s first and leading sport and physical education company with a vision of helping millions of Nigerian school kids/teens derive fun from playing a sport while also keeping fit and training to become professional athletes.

The company was founded in 2015 with a vision to make sports and physical education an integral part of every child’s education and upbringing, thereby creating a favourable platform for sports development, the discovery of talent, and also instigating an active physical lifestyle amongst students, parents and schools stakeholders.
The need to develop sports talents at the grassroots level in concordance with the Nigeria National Sports Policy was the driving force behind the creation of the company.
A study by the head of Active Living Research, Dr Sallis has shown that physical activity does not only affect the body but to a great extent, the mind too; “Physical activity stimulates new neurons (brain cells), new connections among neurons, new blood vessels in the brain and better flow of neurotransmitters among brain cells. These improvements in structure throughout the brain lead to better function such as memory, attention and reasoning.” In other words, an active body can help boost an active growing mind, and that is what Leverage Sports is here for.
