Gernot Rohr

Super Eagles’ head coach and Technical Adviser, Gernot Rohr, has his two-year contract extended to 2020, this is after the team’s qualification to World Cup, 2018.

This new deal was announced on Monday, by NFF president, Amaju Pinnick at an event in Lagos. The Franco-German coach had earlier signed a two-year deal contract in 2016 with an inclusion clause of an extension if he succeeds in qualifying the country for Russia 2018.  He, however, did not give the financial details of the new contract as reported by Premium Times. He expressed that there was the need to give Rohr a new contract, having performed creditably well.

This feat has him widely credited as he successfully navigates the Nigeria through the “Group of Death”, a group that had African champions, Cameroon, Algeria and Zambia at the qualifiers.

A lot of people have praised the coach among them is Skipper Mikel Obi who exhorted Rohr’s attention to details, as the coach transformed the Eagles by combining with a blend of young, exciting players and experienced campaigners.
