The Africa CDC Youth Digital Health Champions (Y-DHC) initiative is designed to discover, showcase, and unite energetic young professionals who are making significant contributions to Africa’s digital health sector.

Selected participants will act as inspirational figures, advocates, and partners in promoting digital health advancement, policy development, and implementation.
This program focuses on creating a prominent and effective network capable of influencing policy decisions, enhancing regional innovation environments, and promoting youth leadership throughout Africa.
Requirements for Participation
All candidates must fulfil these essential criteria:
- Age Requirement: Applicants should be aged 18-35 years when submitting their application.
- Citizenship/Residence: Must hold citizenship in any African Union member country. Young Africans living abroad are welcome to apply.
- Language Skills: Demonstrated competence in one or more of the following languages – English, French, Arabic, or Portuguese (preference given to those who can engage across multiple language platforms).
- Digital Health Involvement: Active participation in digital health through any of these areas:
- Innovation activities (such as establishing startups or developing technology solutions).
- Academic research and scholarly work.
- Public health initiatives incorporating digital technologies.
- Policy formulation or advocacy work.
- Educational programs or digital literacy projects.

Program Advantages
1- Profile Enhancement and Public Recognition: Champions receive featured coverage and storytelling through Africa CDC and YiDHN communication channels, boosting visibility for their contributions across local, regional, and continental platforms.
2- Participation in Premier Events: Access to YiDHN-sponsored webinars, policy discussions, and Africa CDC conferences to contribute expertise, shape discussions, and establish professional credibility. Select Youth Champions will receive invitations to the Africa HealthTech Summit – #AHTS2025.
3- Professional Network Development: Integration into an active, pan-African community of digital health innovators and advocates for knowledge exchange and collaborative projects.
4- Skills Development and Policy Involvement: Preferential access to educational programs, workshops, and policy discussions focused on strengthening leadership capabilities, technical expertise, and advocacy competencies.
5- Growth and Expansion Assistance: The program will establish strategic alliances and sponsorship arrangements to create additional opportunities, including access to startup funding for youth-driven digital health ventures, guidance from industry experts, involvement in continental and global innovation competitions, fellowship opportunities, and accelerator program participation.
Program Length: 12-month commitment
