The Government Analytics Fellowship Program by the World Bank represents an innovative effort to connect government data resources with improved public sector performance through evidence-based decision-making.

Drawing on the Government Analytics Handbook and supported by World Bank specialists and academic partners, this Fellowship offers cutting-edge research and practical guidance to enhance governmental effectiveness.

The program is a joint venture involving the World Bank’s Development Economics Vice-Presidency (DEC), Development Impact Group (DECDI), Institutions Global Department, Institute for Economic Development, and University College London (UCL).

Program Structure

  • Fellows will participate in combined in-person instruction and ongoing mentorship from senior professionals at the World Bank and University College London to create a Government Analytics initiative.
  • The program duration is 6 months, featuring an intensive full-time 2-week in-person training period in Washington, D.C., incorporating the Public Institutions Conference and Government Analytics curriculum.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates for the Government Analytics Fellowship must meet these conditions:

  • Available for travel to Washington, D.C. for face-to-face training components.
  • Endorsed by their employing organisations (a Maximum of 2 fellows per organisation).
  • Currently employed within central government entities (including government agencies).
  • Hold mid-level management or senior analytical roles (or similar positions) with decision-making power to create government analytics initiatives.
  • Possess demonstrated university-level education in statistics or comparable quantitative disciplines.
  • Demonstrate English language competency.

  • A 150-word overview describing your plan to implement program learnings to improve your organisation through a government analytics initiative.
