Budeshi and Devon have joined forces to introduce a mini-grant initiative designed to support local organisations dedicated to improving transparency and accountability within Nigeria’s procurement frameworks.

The Budeshi Mini-Grant Initiative is available to Nigerian-based organisations that have demonstrated expertise in:

  • Transparency and accountability initiatives
  • Good governance practices
  • Anti-corruption efforts
    • Procurement oversight activities

Organisations that currently operate or plan to implement procurement monitoring programs are particularly encouraged to submit applications.

Required Eligibility Standards

Registration And Legal Compliance

  • Applicant organisations must possess a valid registration status with appropriate certification.
  • Organisations undergoing registration may apply, but will receive funding only upon completion of the registration process.

Community Presence And Operation

  • Organisations or individuals must maintain demonstrable operational activities within their communities and show active involvement in community development or service delivery in their respective states.
  • Evidence of ongoing community engagement or program implementation within the state is required.

Organisational Structure And Oversight

  • Organisations must maintain clearly established governance frameworks with documented policies and role definitions.
  • Applicants must show the capability to establish fundamental internal oversight mechanisms, including duty separation, financial responsibility protocols, and reporting systems.

Financial Administration Capabilities

Nigerian organisations must operate a functioning organisational bank account featuring:

  • Demonstrated systems and competency in fundamental financial documentation.
  • Willingness to undergo control system evaluations and effectiveness assessments for project implementation, including financial reporting to FPRC.

Program Alignment

Proposed initiatives must correspond with the grant’s thematic focus areas, spanning various sectors for 2023/2024 Federal Procurement within the state (including health, education, gender equality, youth development, environmental action, or governance).

  • Projects must target local requirements, encourage community participation, and show potential for quantifiable outcomes in strengthening state-level procurement accountability.

Legal And Ethical Requirements

Organisations/individuals must be free from ongoing legal proceedings, disputes, or sanctions from donors, development organisations, or regulatory bodies.

  • Must maintain ethical standards, including non-discrimination, transparency, accountability, and human rights.

Community Involvement And Continuity

  • Projects must show community participation in the planning and execution phases.
  • Applicants must provide sustainability strategies demonstrating how interventions will continue or create enduring impact after the grant concludes, including ongoing use of the BUDESHI platform for documentation – submit Work Plan.

Documentation Requirements

  • All grant recipients must conduct reporting through the Budeshi platform.
  • An annual recognition will be given to the organisation with exemplary program documentation.

Funding Details

Each selected organisation will be awarded $7,500 USD in grant funding.
