From engaging in private negotiations at the UN Climate Change Conference (COP) to collaborating on influential policy documents and providing counsel to government representatives, AYNF Fellows don’t simply observe; they actively influence the direction of climate policy development.
In its fourth year, the Africa Youth Negotiators Fellowship has established itself as a continent-wide leadership initiative focused on preparing the next generation of African climate leaders with the necessary skills to impact decision-making across all spheres—from domestic policy development to United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change negotiations.

Requirements for Applicants
Candidates for the 2025 program must meet the following criteria:
- Hold citizenship from any African nation and be between 15-35 years old.
- Demonstrate genuine commitment to climate justice and diplomatic engagement.
- Possess experience or keen interest in climate policy (at national or international levels).
- Be available to participate fully in both program phases.
- Demonstrate English language competency, as it serves as the main instructional language.
