Selection Criteria
The championship team must showcase a scalable manufacturing innovation that harnesses AI to produce quantifiable improvements in efficiency and waste reduction. Evaluation focuses on four key areas: commercial potential, technology integration, operational profitability, and market expansion capabilities within Africa.
Company Requirements
Eligible participants must be:
- Established businesses with at least 2 years of operational history.
- Companies that have secured Series A or later-stage funding.
- Active players in Africa’s manufacturing industry.
- Organisations are committed to workforce development and employment growth.

Prize Structure
The competition offers a comprehensive $2 million prize pool distributed across multiple award categories:
Initial Round Awards:
- Ten Semi-Finalists: $50,000 each
- Five Finalists: $30,000 each
Final Competition Awards:
- Grand Prize Champion: $1,000,000
- Second Place: $250,000
- Most Advanced 4IR Implementation: $100,000
Competition Timeline
The contest unfolds through three distinct phases:
- Phase 1: Application Review Teams present their concepts and business strategies to an independent expert judging panel. Ten companies advance as semi-finalists, each receiving $50,000.
- Phase 2: Presentation Round Semi-finalists deliver pitches to industry leaders and key stakeholders. Five teams progress to the final status, earning $30,000 each.
- Phase 3: Final Evaluation. Finalists submit comprehensive materials for ultimate judging. Winners receive the grand prize ($1 million), runner-up award ($250,000), and advanced technology recognition ($100,000).
The grand prize ceremony will take place in May 2026.

Participation Restrictions
The following entities cannot participate:
- Individuals or organisations based in or primarily operating from countries under the US embargo.
- Entities appearing on the OFAC Specially Designated Nationals and Blocked Persons List or similar US government sanctions lists.
- Current or former employees of the Milken Institute or Motsepe Foundation, including their immediate family members.
