The TWAS-ICCBS Postdoctoral Fellowship is hosted by the International Centre for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), which encompasses both the H.E.J. Research Institute of Chemistry and the Dr. Panjwani Centre for Molecular and Drug Research, located in Karachi, Pakistan.
The fellowship duration ranges from a minimum of six months to a maximum of twelve months, covering research areas such as organic chemistry, biochemistry, biotechnology, molecular medicine, pharmacology, physical chemistry, and analytical chemistry.
ICCBS provides fellows with a monthly allowance designed to cover essential living expenses, including meals, housing, local transport, and minor medical needs. This stipend cannot be exchanged for foreign currency. All instruction and communication will be conducted in English.

Eligibility Requirements
Candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Maximum age of 45 years as of December 31st of the application year.
- Citizenship of a developing nation (Pakistan excluded).
- Possession of a PhD in natural sciences.
- No current visa status for temporary or permanent residence in Pakistan or any developed nation.
- Current employment in a developing country (excluding Pakistan) with an active research role.
- Medical clearance certificate from a licensed physician.
Official Preliminary Acceptance Letter from ICCBS (sample available for download or within the online application). To obtain this letter, candidates should contact the ICCBS Director (Prof. Dr. Raza Shah at [email protected] or [email protected] ), who will arrange a host supervisor assignment. Contact requests must include a CV copy, research proposal summary, and two letters of recommendation.
Demonstration of English language competency if previous education was not conducted in English.

Application Guidelines
The application submission deadline is August 14, 2025 (midnight CEST). Candidates must include an Acceptance Letter from ICCBS with their application or submit it by the deadline at the latest. Applications lacking preliminary acceptance will be automatically disqualified.
Reference letters require official letterhead and signatures, with subject lines containing “ICCBS/PDoc” and the applicant’s family name. Only properly signed reference letters will be accepted.
Important restrictions apply: candidates may submit only one application per calendar year within the TWAS and OWSD program portfolio and are ineligible for other TWAS Visiting Professor programmes during the same year. The sole exception applies to institutional heads who invite external scholars through TWAS Visiting Professor programs, who may still apply for additional programmes.
