The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation is now accepting applications for the 2025 UNFAO Global AgriInno Challenge. Participants should submit their agrifood systems innovations through the online portal. Successful innovators will have the opportunity to present their projects at the Science and Innovation Forum taking place in Rome in October 2025.

Focus Area
This year’s challenge centres on “Harnessing emerging technologies and Digital Public Infrastructure for sustainable agrifood systems” with emphasis on enhancing climate resilience, improving supply chain efficiency, and strengthening nutritional security.
Evaluation Framework
Applications will be assessed based on:
- Innovation Excellence: Solutions must align with the challenge theme, utilise emerging technologies in novel ways, and ensure accessibility for smallholder farmers and underrepresented communities.
- Commercial Viability: Judges will evaluate market readiness, growth potential, profit margins, and capacity to create economic opportunities, including jobs and investment attraction.
- Sustainability Impact: Proposals should demonstrate clear benefits for community livelihoods, environmental sustainability, reduction in food waste or pollution, climate adaptation, and social inclusivity.
- Team Composition: Applicants will be evaluated on operational capabilities, relevant background, technical expertise, and commitment to diverse representation.
