The biggest win of the weekend saw Plateau United demolish Wikki Tourist 4-1 at the New Jos Stadium. A 3rd-minute strike from Ibrahim Mustapha gave Plateau United the lead, but it took Wikki just six minutes to get the equalizer through Jibrin Abubakar. However, a brace from Mohammed Zulkifilu and a goal from Oche Ochowechi saw the hosts record an impressive home win.

In the EPL, Leicester City duo, Kelechi Iheanacho and Wilfred Ndidi, failed to qualify for the Uefa Champions League as the foxes lost 4-2 to Tottenham Hotspur. Leicester finished in the Europa League position, fifth place.
At the continental level, Enyimba FC of Aba was knocked out of the CAF Confederations Cup on Sunday after a 1-1 home draw against Pyramids FC of Egypt. The first leg of the quarter-finals in Cairo finished 4-1 in favour of the Egyptians who came into the second-leg encounter with full confidence, scoring the opener in the 32nd minute through Ibrahim Adel. Anayo Iwuala equalized for the Peoples Elephant in the 40th minute but it was not enough to see them through to the semi-finals.
In athletics, Tobi Amusan continued her brilliant run this year at the Continental Tour Gold in Boston. Amusan who would compete at the Tokyo Olympics this summer, finished second in the 100Mh with a time of 12.62 seconds, behind the winner Kendra Harrison (12.49s).
