World heavyweight boxing champion, Anthony Joshua, has expressed his desire to defend his world heavyweight titles in Nigeria someday. This comes after Joshuaโs rematch victory over Andy Ruiz Jnr on Saturday, December 7, 2019. Joshuaโs is expected to return to London (possibly at Tottenham Hotspurโs ground), to defend his belts against either of Kubrat Pulev (Bulgaria), or Oleksandr Usyk.

However, Joshuaโs promoter, Eddie Hearn, has received numerous offers to stage the British-born Nigerian future bouts elsewhere, including Africa. Joshua, 30, stated that the dream of fighting in Nigeria started after visiting the country this year. If Joshuaโs dreams come true, it would be the first world heavyweight championship fight staged in the continent since 1974 when greats like Muhammad Ali and George Foreman fought the โโRumble in the Jungle,โโ in Zaire.
