Glasgow Rangers of Scotland forward, Joseph Aribo, has expressed his happiness over scoring in his debut game for the Super Eagles of Nigeria in Tuesday’s (September 10, 2019) international friendly against Ukraine in Dnipro. The game, which ended 2-2 after the Ukrainians came from behind to level the scores from a two-goal lead by the Eagles, saw Aribo complete 90 minutes of action.
Aribo was brilliant in the middle of the park alongside Alex Iwobi and Oghenekaro Etebo, and got his debut goal in the fourth minute of the encounter, after brilliant footwork from Samuel Kalu, who singled out Iwobi with a pass to set up Aribo’s goal. Iwobi’s pass was superbly slotted into the net by the former Charlton Athletic player, who thrilled Nigerian football fans with his strength, good ball-handling, dribble, and pace in the midfield.
Ukraine’s goalkeeper Andriy Lunin would deny the tall Eagles midfielder a chance to grab his second goal midway through the game after his header from Iwobi’s brilliant cross was palmed away by the shot-stopper for a corner. Aribo now heads back to Scotland to continue his impressive run of form for Rangers in a season that has seen him score four goals already for the Scottish giants.
Buzzing to make my debut for @NGSuperEagles unfortunate with the result but happy to score on my debut, a special day for me & my family and one I’ll remember. Thank you God🙏🏾 🇳🇬🦅 #SoarSuperEagles pic.twitter.com/DT0Xxr08oW
