I need to further my education, but I don’t really have so much time to go to school… Or I’m currently working in a firm, but I think I need to learn more to improve my work output and resumè. I need to undergo a class and get a certification, but I don’t really have time to go to a school. What do I do? A slew of people falls into the category of people that haven’t yet discovered the vast number of online learning websites and tools. Some others may have heard of these resources but due to certain constraints haven’t yet taken advantage of them. Well, here is a list of applications I’ve checked out and I think they’ll really help you get started and entirely on your way to earning that certification.
  • Coursera

With over 2000+ courses you can learn from, Coursera tops the list, mostly because of the quality of service they provide to learners with professionals from schools like Standford and Yale taking the courses. Free download on Google play store
  • Alison

Alison provides over 800 free online diploma and certificate courses, the courses are usually accessed freely to learners. Certificates are awarded after you’ve passed several assessment tests, but access to the certificate is restricted until payment is made. Free download on Google play store.
  • Duolingo

Duolingo hit the ground running in 2014. It is currently the world’s most popular language learning app with many other options. It is fun and science-based with online practice games. Free download on Google Play store
  • Khan Academy

Khan Academy is a non-profit educational organization created in 2006 by educator Salman Khan with a goal of creating a set of online tools that help educate students.  It teaches more traditional subjects like math, science, physics, economics, and more. The app boasts access to over 10,000 videos along with various lessons and courses. Free download on Google play store
  • Lynda

Lynda is an online learning resource founded by Lynda Weinman. It’s very similar to apps like Udacity, Coursera, or Udemy. It does have a much heavier focus on technology and work-related skills. Free to download on Google play store / $25 per month
  • Udacity

Udacity is one of the more intense learning apps on the list. It is a for-profit educational organization founded by Sebastian Thrun, David Stavens, and Mike Sokolsky offering massive open online courses, it’s a lot like Udemy and Lynda. Free download on Google play store
  • Edx

edX is a massive open online course provider. It hosts online university-level courses in a wide range of disciplines to a worldwide student body, including some courses at no charge. Free download on Google play store
  • Udemy

Udemy is an online learning and teaching marketplace with over 55000 courses and 15 million students. Learn programming, marketing, design, photography,  IT, etc It is aimed at professional adults. Unlike academic MOOC programs are driven by traditional collegiate coursework, Udemy provides a platform for experts of any kind. There you have it, take out time to check them all out.
