The nominations for the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) 2017 were announced on the 14th of December 2016, with Nigeria’s ’76 and 93 Days leading with 14 and 12 nominations respectively.
The movies- 93 Days, ’76, Oloibiri, A Trip to Jamaica and The CEO– all Nigerian movies, were nominated for Best Movie West Africa.
Jenifa’s Diary, Sokhulu & Partners Season 3, Duplicity, Beneath the Lies and Beyond Your Sight were nominated for Best TV Series in 2016.
Nominated for Best Overall African Movie for 2016 are Best Movie South Africa’s Mrs Right Guy and Happiness is a Four-Letter Word, Best Movie East Africa’s Aisha and Naomba Niseme and Best Movie West Africa’s 93 Days and ’76.
Other categories include nominations for Best Documentary, Best Short film, and Best Director, and Best Indigenous Language Best Actor in a Comedy, Best Actress in a Comedy, Best Actress in a Drama, Best Supporting Actor in a Drama, Best Supporting Actress in a Drama, Best Cinematography, Best Art Director, Best Costume Designer, Best Lighting Designer, Best Picture Editor, Best Sound Editor, Best Makeup Artist and Best Soundtrack/Original Score in Movie/TV Series.
