Nigeria can boast of a robust availability of talented tailors and fashion designers. And while many brands keep this tradition flown at full mast within the country, a good number have enjoyed international recognition. The tailoring skill is largely becoming a coin of the realm; there is a successive increase in the number of graduates from fashion schools, Instagram fashion businesses, and entries for fashion shows.
But while this is so, there still remains a dearth in the availability of home-based designers for children’s wears. In keeping with Children’s Day, we celebrate some of the few Nigerian designers who have taken bold steps in threading this less charted course.
